Summary

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens is the seventh film in the saga, released in December 2015. Directed by J.J. Abrams, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Lawrence Kasdan and Michael Arndt, this movie marked the long-awaited return of Star Wars to the big screen under Disney's ownership and reintroduced the franchise to a new generation of viewers while paying homage to the classic elements that made it beloved to millions of fans worldwide.

The story takes place approximately 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi. The Galactic Empire has been defeated, but a new threat has emerged: the First Order, a militaristic organization that has risen from the ashes of the Empire, led by the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke and his knight Kylo Ren, a Force user obsessed with completing the work Darth Vader began. Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker has mysteriously disappeared, leaving only a map to his location.

The protagonist of this new era is Rey, a scavenger living on the desert planet of Jakku, who discovers a map to Luke Skywalker and becomes embroiled in the fight between the Resistance, led by General Leia Organa, and the First Order. Along with the defect stormtrooper Finn and Resistance pilot Poe Dameron, Rey embarks on an adventure that will lead her to discover her own connections with the Force and her destiny as a new heroine.
